Need more than a single-item pickup? These cleanout services are often relevant for homes, properties, and businesses in Lawrence.
We provide junk removal in Lawrence, MA and across the Merrimack Valley, and we know how this immigrant mill city is built. Lawrence rose on the Great Stone Dam and the Everett and Ayer mills, and most of its housing is dense triple-deckers and packed multi-family blocks — from Tower Hill and Prospect Hill to South Lawrence, Arlington, and the streets around Campagnone Common. Narrow stairwells, tight off-street parking, and shared landings are the norm here, and we plan every job around them.
What We Haul in Lawrence
We clear furniture, appliances, mattresses, and full cleanouts for homeowners, tenants, and landlords. A few patterns we see often:
- Multi-family tenant turnovers — clearing a unit between renters so it is ready to show, common across North Lawrence and the Arlington District.
- Third-floor carry-downs — couches, dressers, and box springs hauled down three flights of a triple-decker, so you do not risk the stairs yourself.
- Mill-loft and converted-space cleanouts — move-outs and renovation debris from the old mill blocks along the Merrimack and Spicket rivers.
We also handle garage, basement, and estate cleanouts, plus appliance and hot-tub removal. We never take hazardous materials, gas, or oils.
Massachusetts mattress ban and city bulk-pickup limits
Massachusetts bans mattresses, box springs, and textiles from the trash, so they cannot ride along with regular pickup. The City of Lawrence's contracted hauler also limits curbside bulk to one free small item per household per week, with set fees for larger pieces and scheduling required. We take that off your plate — we load, haul, and route everything to legal recycling and disposal so nothing comes back on you.
Trash King is licensed, fully insured, and biohazard-certified. We are a Christian- and family-owned crew led by owner Tyler, we donate and recycle what we can, and same-day and next-day service is available for most jobs. We serve Lawrence and nearby Methuen, Andover, North Andover, and Salem, NH. For a free, no-pressure on-site quote with no hidden fees and a broom-clean finish, call (603) 404-0386.

Where to Dump Junk in Lawrence, MA
If you're hauling junk yourself in Lawrence, here are official self-haul options for local residents. If you'd rather skip the trip, the dump fees, and the loading, we handle the junk removal for you.
1 Auburn Street, Lawrence, MA 01841
Hours: Event-only: 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, May through October, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. The DPW Yard is NOT a daily trash transfer station; outside of HHW event Saturdays the site is closed to public drop-off. Verify specific 2026 event dates at (978) 620-3311 before relying on them.
Permit: Lawrence residents only; proof of Lawrence residency required for each person taking part. Business establishments are not eligible for this subsidized program.
Accepts:
Household hazardous waste during scheduled May-October Saturday events: oil-based paints, automotive fluids (gasoline, antifreeze, motor oil), pool and pesticide chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, and similar HHW. Phone (978) 620-3311 for the current per-event accepted list — payment by debit or credit card only.
Will not accept:
Latex paint is NOT accepted — dry it out by leaving the can open until solid, then dispose in regular trash. Also NOT accepted at the HHW site: bulk furniture, mattresses, electronics, appliances, tires, yard waste, construction debris, and commercial/business-generated waste. Mattresses and textiles are banned from MA disposal under 310 CMR 19.017 — route mattresses to UTEC (utecinc.org) and textiles to Bay State Textiles bins or curbside textile haulers.
Lawrence's residential curbside contractor is Capitol Waste Services (effective November 2022), which handles trash, recycling, and bulk-item pickup citywide. Bulk items (furniture, mattresses, and similar) are collected on the same day as your regular trash route, with ONE free bulk item per household per week — additional items are billed per the Capitol Waste Service Bulk Items price sheet (the city directs residents to Capitol at 1-844-377-1718 for the current per-item fee, which is not publicly posted). Schedule bulk pickups with Capitol directly; the DPW does NOT take bulk-item scheduling calls. Mattresses and box springs CANNOT be put curbside as regular trash under MA state law (310 CMR 19.017, effective November 1, 2022) — they go out as bulk items on the truck and are routed to the statewide UTEC mattress-recycling program (utecinc.org). Refrigerators, freezers, AC units, and dehumidifiers require CFC/refrigerant recovery and must be specifically scheduled as white-good appointments with Capitol. For routine overflow trash beyond your standard barrel, Lawrence sells specially marked 33-gallon overflow bags at $11 per pack of 5; bags are sold at the Department of Public Works (200 Common Street), Market Basket #5 (700 Essex Street), and America's Food Basket (73 Winthrop Avenue). Tie overflow bags tightly and place them alongside your trash barrel on your pickup day. For yard waste, single-stream recycling, and textile recycling programs, see cityoflawrence.com or call the DPW at (978) 620-3090.
Lawrence runs a free city-subsidized Household Hazardous Waste drop-off program at the DPW Yard, 1 Auburn Street, Lawrence, MA 01841, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from May through October, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The program is open to Lawrence residents ONLY — proof of Lawrence residency is required for each person taking part, and business establishments are not eligible. Payment is by debit or credit card only at the event; specific per-event fee tiers are not published on the city website (phone-verify 2026 pricing at the Recycling Office, (978) 620-3311). Latex paint is NOT accepted at HHW events — dry it out (add kitty litter, leave the lid off until solid) and put it in your regular trash. Also NOT accepted at HHW events: electronics, mattresses, textiles, tires, appliances, and bulk furniture — route those through Capitol Waste bulk pickup (1-844-377-1718), UTEC (mattresses), and Bay State Textiles bins (textiles). 2026 event Saturdays should fall on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of May, June, July, August, September, and October — verify the exact dates at cityoflawrence.com/165/Hazardous-Waste-Drop-Off or by phone at (978) 620-3311 before driving over.

Disposal Rules in MA
Under Massachusetts solid waste regulations (310 CMR 19.017), the following materials are banned from disposal at MA landfills, combustion facilities, and transfer stations: lead-acid and other vehicle batteries (since 1990), leaves and yard waste (1991-1992), whole tires (1991), white goods/major appliances (1991), aluminum/metal/glass containers and single-resin plastics (1992-1994), recyclable paper (1994), cathode-ray tubes and other CRT-containing electronics (April 1, 2000), asphalt pavement, brick, concrete, scrap metal, and treated/untreated wood (July 1, 2006), clean gypsum wallboard (2011), commercial organic/food waste from any generator producing one-half ton (1,000 lbs) per week or more (lowered from 1 ton effective November 1, 2022), and — most relevant to households — mattresses, box springs, and textiles (clothing, footwear, bedding, towels, curtains, fabric), both effective November 1, 2022. The Commonwealth contracts with UTEC (utecinc.org) as its statewide mattress-recycling vendor; drop-off at UTEC is currently $30 per mattress or box spring, and most MA municipalities (Lowell, Cambridge, Framingham, Haverhill, and others) use UTEC for curbside collection, while typical municipal mattress fees passed on to residents range from $15 to $65 per unit. As of May 2026 Massachusetts does NOT have a PaintCare or statewide paint stewardship program — the Extended Producer Responsibility Commission recommended one in its January 2026 final report but the Legislature has not yet enacted it (paint must go through municipal HHW events). MassDEP enforces the waste bans at facilities, haulers, and generators under 310 CMR 19.081; illegal dumping under M.G.L. c. 270, § 16 carries fines up to $5,500 first offense and $15,000 subsequent offenses, and willful illegal disposal of hazardous waste under MassDEP authority may reach $25,000 per day plus imprisonment.
